Nigella wish-list 2010

At the very top of my wish-list this Christmas are these festive-coloured melamine mixing bowls from culinary queen Nigella Lawson. Sadly, they're notoriously hard to get in this corner of the world. Hopefully I'll be able to track down a UK shop who will ship them to Australia one day! In the meantime, this great image will suffice...

Cath Kidston Christmas 2009

Very happy to report the next Cath Kidston catalogue comes in the mail from the UK soon. It'll be their annual Christmas-themed issue and I can't wait to see what's planned. Here's a bit more of a look at what those savvy homeware designers put together from London for last year's festive range. So pretty!

Christmas Store Decorations

Pastry chef Melody Brandon owns a gorgeous cake & biscuit store in California called 'Sweet & Saucy'. Here are some images of her striking visual merchandising efforts last December in the lead-up to Christmas. The store also retails a selection of beautifully arranged blooms for every occasion. Thanks Melody for allowing me to share your images!

Kikki K Christmas

Swedish-born, Australian stationery queen Kikki K (Kristina Karlsson) has just released her 2010 Christmas range. I really like her Nordic-inspired cloth advent calendar. It comes complete with it's own draw-string bag with images of Tomten (Christmas elves) that have been popularised & embraced in Nordic countries.

It retails for $49.95.

Christmas scents

'Michel Design Works' is a design studio that operates from Westchester, NY. They have a range of hostess soaps & candles called 'Comfort & Joy' and 'Holly'. Fabricated in England, they're made especially for the Christmas season. I'm sure they smell nice, but quite honestly I just really love their packaging!

Holidays on Ice

US satirist David Sedaris has been my favourite author for some time now. I went to see one of his plays 'The Santaland Diaries' in Melbourne a few years back . The play enacts 30 year old Sedaris' financial desperation, which ultimately leads him to accept work as a Christmas elf at Macy's in NYC. The book this play is taken from is called 'holidays on ice'. It's a seasonal collection of hilarious stories that showcase Sedaris' acerbic but very funny & warped sense of humour.
